Palcohol Ban in Substance Abuse Legislation

BEACON HILL – According to a release, The Massachusetts Restaurant Association is applauding the Massachusetts legislature for their inclusion of a state-wide ban on powdered alcohol in legislation signed into law by Governor Baker entitled An Act Relative to Substance Use, Treatment, Education and Prevention.   Both the House and Senate unanimously voted to implement a prohibition of “Palcohol” that is punishable by a fine of not less than $100 or more than $1,000. The adopted language says that “no person shall sell, offer for sale, manufacture or possess powdered alcohol”.   “We have heard from numerous operators across the state, from function facilities to concert venues, and they have said unanimously that the proliferation of powdered alcohol would have a profound impact...
